This copepod was isolated from an estuary. Very tolerant of a wide variety of conditions. Tisbe spp. are detritivores and make a great addition to any tank. They will help in keeping a system clean and healthy. They also provide a food source to animals that feed on copepods. This species is relatively easy to cultivate.
For those rearing seahorse fry, this can be a great addition to their fry setup. This species can work as a bioremediator, keeping the system cleaner, healthier and reduce the number of ciliates within the system. Seahorse fry will also feed upon them.
Cultivation can be done in a 5 gal bucket with a small amount of crushed flake food and PhycoPure. Add an open rigid airline and some type of media for the copepods to hide in such as a macor algae or large pore sponge. Harvesting can be done with a 120 micron seive.
